Apple iPhone 18 Pro Design Changes Take Shape In New Leak
Apple’s next iPhones will look broadly similar to the current models, a new report claims.
When the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are unveiled in September, the design changes will be minimal because the iPhone 17 series has been so successful, it’s claimed.
But that doesn’t mean there won’t be subtle visual changes, such as to the cameras, a separate report has revealed.
Weibo Leaker Details Apple’s iPhone 18 Plans
The report comes from a Weibo leaker called Fixed Focus Digital.
“The leaker describes the iPhone 17 as having been enough of a hit for Apple to be celebrating with champagne. Then Fixed Focus Digital says that the iPhone 18 series will not change much,” Apple Insider reported.
The leaker goes on to say that the A20 and A20 Pro processors expected to be in the iPhone 18 range will be significant.
Or at least that they will be the most significant part of the update, the report adds.
The same leaker has separately reported that one of the main elements Apple focuses on for its upgrades, the cameras, could also be a significant change for the next iPhones.
Even if visually the differences to the way the phone looks will be less noticeable.
Why Apple Rarely Makes Major Design Changes Each Year
Some of these findings are hardly surprising.
Apple very rarely makes wholesale changes to design after one generation, and the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max look was strikingly different from what came the year before.
When Apple followed a whole-number release with an S release, such as iPhone 6s after iPhone 6, the visual differences were minimal.
The focus then was on how groundbreaking Apple saw the next model to be.
Internal changes could still be significant.
For instance, the vapor chamber cooling introduced in the iPhone 17 Pro could reach the regular iPhone 18.
The latest rumors are that the regular iPhone could be released not this fall but in spring 2027, which could make it a welcome spec bump.
Will Apple Drop the iPhone’s Two-Tone Design?
Other rumors have suggested that one of the more controversial design elements, the two-tone back on the iPhone 17 Pro, may be dropped.
I’m not sure about this.
Assuming the materials remain the same, a mix of aluminum and glass, it may be that a difference in colors between the two is inevitable.
In which case, Apple might want to emphasize the differences rather than try to hide them.
One thing that is almost certain to change, though, is the colors in the range.
